DWG
DWG is AutoCAD’s native format. Converting it takes a tool that runs on our servers — the consequences are said on screen:
On device, DWG is set aside — by name. Dropped alone on “This device”, no project is created; mixed with DXFs, the project is created without it: in both cases a message names the file — “Skipped — name: … DWG files are converted on our servers — choose ‘Our servers’ for them”. The drawing is never accepted halfway.
On our servers, DWG is converted then read like a DXF. The conversion uses a free reader (GNU LibreDWG) called as a separate program — never a proprietary piece inside NestorCut.
If the conversion fails, the card exists, in error. The screen shows an “Import failed” card with a button to report the file to us — the converter’s own message does not come through. The advice, since the screen does not give it: versions R2013 and newer are experimental; save your drawing as DXF (or an older DWG) from AutoCAD and it will go through like the others.
The rest of the path is DXF’s: units read, blocks resolved, multi-part possible, rigid block by default.
