This device — your parts stay here
Section titled “This device — your parts stay here”The file is read and the computing happens IN your browser; the results stay saved in this browser. None of your geometry and none of your file names are sent to us: the server sees only the project’s existence and your quota counters.
Two truths to know:
- it is not “offline”: the connection, the account and your project list go through our servers (the metadata, not the drawings);
- it is not multi-device: another browser, a wiped IndexedDB, and the parts are not there anymore — the screen says so when it happens. Recovering means dropping your files again.
And the assumed limit: anyone with the computer unlocked can read what is saved there — like a paper plan on the table.
Our servers, no vault — in the clear, deleted at 24 h
Section titled “Our servers, no vault — in the clear, deleted at 24 h”The files go up in the clear to our machines (TLS in transit), are processed there, and everything is deleted 24 hours later: the dropped files and the results alike. The report figures remain — they are scalars, not drawings. Past that deadline, the screen shows “expired” and the downloads disappear. Deleting a project or the account is self-service, immediate.
Our servers, with the vault — unreadable at rest
Section titled “Our servers, with the vault — unreadable at rest”The vault encrypts your files on our servers at the very moment of writing: at rest — disk, backups, copies — no one can read them without your key file, not even us. During an unlocked session (about two hours), the computing works in memory on the machine serving you. The vault is optional, on every plan: you enable it and you keep the key.
If you lose your key file, your data is lost — we cannot recover it. Keep it like a spare set of shop keys.
Without the vault, during those 24 hours, we can technically read your files. With the vault, at rest, no one can, us included; during your unlocked session, the machine doing the computing sees them in memory. We will never say “we cannot read you” without that nuance — each mode tells its own truth, nothing more.
